Maha-Decline of NDA: Devendra Fadnavis offers Resignation amid Blame Game

The Mahayuti alliance failed to impress voters in the Lok Sabha 2024 elections. The entire alliance, which included BJP, the NCP with original symbol under Ajit Pawar and the Shiv Sena under original symbol under Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, totally managed to get only 18 seats out of 48.

Of the 18, BJP managed to secure 10 seats, NCP managed just the lone seat of Ratnagiri and Shiv Sena came in with 7 seats including a couple very close fought out seats (Mumbai North West was won by Ravindra Waikar by just 48 votes!).

This was a very poor performance considering the width and depth of the alliance, and while it did not disturb the prospects of the NDA in the central election, the heft of Devendra Fadnavis who many consider to be a rising star and future Candidate for the top job in the party, faltered in front of the opposition INDI Alliance who together won in 29 seats.
